It is getting very hard to find a parking spot in downtown Lisbon. Almost impossible. I managed to finally leave the car in one of those massive parking buildings next to Pingo Doce castelo, but I am not 100% sure if I was even legally driving up there.
We just met a friend for an hour and bought some stuff on sale 🙂
We also bought something that was supposed to be on sale but we did not read the sign carefully and we missed the deadline of the sale by two days.
My question here:
Why on earth you do not take the sign down once the sale is over ???!!!
Is it a funny little joke from shop assistants in Pingo Doce on easy going customers?
Anyway…
I did manage to capture one or two nice shots though that will be seen below…
We were talking about change with my daughter.
It is a fact that Lisbon is changing.
To me, when we moved here five years ago, the city had many resemblance to the Lisbon I have seen in the Wim Wenders film: The Lisbon story. Although that movie was shot in 1984… it really felt like we were traveling back in time when we arrived here.
Since then, a lot has changed. There are a lot of nice new features, little kiosks or quiosques how they write it here. And chique little restaurants and cafes.
However, everything is still full of dog poop and trash all over.
I know it’s not the only capital in Europe with the same problem so I am not judging, it is just purely sad.
We just have very high standards, I guess.
It is not only me.
To be honest, it is my kid’s influence.
They find it the same effort to throw something away and to throw something in the bin… and they are right.
They keep telling me that they will never live in a big city no matter what.
And for some strange reason it makes me happy.
God knows why.
Perhaps, because it means they have goals and ethics.
I wish this to the next generation.
This is the only way out of the dead end street where industrialism lead us…
They will claim their universal rights which are not only proper workplaces and possibilities to work in home office but the right for fresh air, clean water and environment!
This is going to be the new deal if all is going well.
I do not even dare to think, what if all is not going well….
