I haven’t been writing for a long time…

… but I have various reasons for this.

First of all, we have a big girl in da house 🙂

Yes that’s right, our girl just turned 8 recently. It is not easy to stay super sustainable while trying to please the celebrated one. However, I think, I am getting better at it.

First of all, organising one of those massive parties with pre-ordered party settings like plastic plates and the other terrible components was out of the question.

Don’t get me wrong. I used to be part of the crowd, I definitely don’t want to look down on anyone for remaining there.  I am also failing as a sustainability enthusiast from time to time.

But this is already a quite natural thing, not to organise a birthday party at a place where they have rules like I cannot bring my own cake or they are not providing real cutlery only single use plastic.. stuff like this matters already.

So at the end we agreed on not organizing anything big just kept it simple 🙂

We had such a great time these days…

Luckily the weather was also fantastic so we could go to the beach a lot.

On some days we were skating and collecting garbage.

My daughter told me it’s a happy sad thing. Because it is a nice feeling to see how much we have collected and that the beach looks wonderful afterwards but the next tide brings just as much trash so the following day it’s the same devastating site again and that’s the sad part ….

On another day we have been surfing and last Friday we even went to see the Big Wave contest in Nazaré but that is a different post

Garbage on the beach:

Beach without the garbage:

Isn’t it more beautiful?!

Let’s take care of nature people. It is really not that difficult to put stuff in the bin, right?!
